Welcome to my pages. I am not a great writer or even a good one. I know very little about the criteria or rules. Some of what I post is intended to be song lyrics, others are simply the way in which I attempt to express and work out some thought or emotion. My purpose is to make some sense out of them for my own well being and then to see what sense others may make of them - if any.
 
Usually I begin with the reaction to personal experiences. It maybe something a friend or acquaintance says or does that interests - excites - repels - or amuses me. Then I try to take an objective view and put it into some kind of context to which strangers can relate. A majority, though certainly not all,  deal with the emotions related to attraction, romance, love, heart break and loss. They are but a single facet of the inspiring moment. Some times I try to magnify the threads a thousand fold while other times it is a wash of watercolor meant to signify only an impression. Current events are juxtaposed against ancient memories and then I try to make some of it rhyme or at least flow with some kind of organic integrity.
If a friend or love is the source of any of this, (and they are) it should not be assumed that I am addressing the words to them. Rather, I am using my life experience as a basis for something I hope can be perceived as universal. For instance, there is a poem inspired by my mother who died when I was still a boy. I hope that it can mean something to others who have lost a parent.  

In previous times a person would have to be published to reach an audience. Not everything which is published is worthwhile and, I'm sure, much that has gone unpublished is of value. I hope some of what I post here will fall in between those two extremes as I take advantage of  this public bulletin board which is the internet.
